Multiply Is Driving Me Nuts

I used to upload pics onto multiply and then link to them in my posts. But, apparently, some of them aren’t showing up anymore, because they’re OLD. (Or some other reason that I’m not going to research about multiply and servers etc. to explain. :P) So. If anyone was having trouble viewing the pics on […]

Honig-Johannisbrot Laib

Uh… yeah. Don’t ask me how to pronounce that. I believe it’s German… tried Google-ing it, but that didn’t exactly… work. Torta Garfagnana

St. Peter’s day is on June 29th, and here is a cake for his feast day, which comes from Garfagnana. Garfagnana is part of the province of Lucca, which is one of the 10 provinces in Tuscany, which, in turn, is one of the 20 regions of Italy. (Hmm… on a side note, how interesting. […]

Spinach and Leek Pie, for St. David’s Day

Well, this is actually a quiche rather than a leek pie, but I figured since it’s basically made the same way (pie crust, custard base, etc.) that the Welsh will forgive me for my presumption. More on Saint David.
Chicken and Leek Pie is more traditional but I was out of chicken (gasp! That […]

Rosca de Reyes / King’s Bread

Rosca de Reyes is a celebration bread usually served Spain, Mexico and other Latin American countries at Epiphany, or Three King’’s Day in January.

There are many versions of King’s Cake, this is just one of them. Tradition calls for a golden crown to be placed on top of the bread at serving time. […]

St. Therese’s feast day

I baked a cake for St. Therese’s feast day, to bring to General Assembly at All Saints. It’s just a plain white cake with butter frosting and raspberry-almond filling. I took this from The Best Recipe.
For the cake:
1 cup milk at room temp.
1/4 cup egg whites at room temp.
2 tsp almond extract
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 […]
