BlogSurfing Saturday and an Award
In the flurry of all things daring last week I failed to mentiont hat I was given an Arte y Pico award. The very cool thing about this one is that it was awarded from a very creative art site, Sweetwater Designs.
As an artist (yep, I am …I used to make money at it once upon a time) I know that artists tend to be very skeptical of just anything called art. As an artist I try very hard to bring out my artistic muse when I am shooting images or creating a cake. So…again, thank you for recognizing me as an artist as well as a foodie. :)
All righty then….let’s move on.
For someone that has only been food blogging a short time, Marc of Chefectomy has an amazing blog..I was totally in love with these Strawberry Balsamic Scones the first moment I saw them.
Of course this was Daring Bakers week and there were about a gazillion beautiful cakes on the Internet. I was not able to see all of them but the one that I did see that took my breath away was this Dome Gateau garnished with edible glitter on Pretty Tasty Cake.
I will say that the Challenge for August is actually a tough one for me because we will be creating something that I cannot make as well as Marc’s mom used to, so I gave up on it all together…He will be a happy man..maybe…and you will have to wait and see what I am talking about.
MMM…Blueberry Crumb Bars from Smitten Kitchen.
I love making croissants..Marc will absolutely snort when he (if he) reads this because I have not made them in years….But I ahev been wanting to again and these chocolate pillows made with laminated dough at Addicted Sweet Tooth may be the perfect excuse.
Susan at Sicky GooeyCreamy Chewy asks everyone how they get inspired. For me, an awful lot of the time..it is by her! And my other foodie blogger peeps, of course! Chek out her Dragonfruit Watermelon Sorbet. Very cruel..it is 103 IN MY OFFICE at the moment and I swear even the image on the screen is melting.
Cathy at Noble Pig is going to be a real author food writer person. She announced it on her blog. And..to throw her chef hat into the springform she posted a recipe for Heirloom Tomato Gratin
O.k..I have had my little break. I have 1/4 of the cookbook due at the editors on Monday..did I all ready say that? and this was my happy little break today.
I am considering starting smoking again so that I can survive on black coffee and cigarettes like the real writers in the movies do.

Hi!
I am honored to show up on your Saturday reading list. I would like to add that the laminating for this dough is much easier than making Croissants, more like folding over and being done with it. The result is not as flaky but delicious in its own way.
