Easter Surfing
Easter is tomorrow. This year we have the grandkids here, plus our kids, but not a lot of cash so the Easter baskets are going to be resplendent with ….whatever I get a change to make this afternoon! I also have to do the altar arrangement for the church, and have a few errands to run, so it should be interesting. Marc will be working all day tomorrow, so Easter dinner is likely to be very ordinary. One of the things that has been hard for me to accept lately is that every celebration does not have to be a massive thing with a groaning table…sometimes it is best to remember it is about the memories, the being together, and the real meaning of what you are celebrating.
We also have a birthday this week. Erin will be 26?!! How did that happen? And then Marc and I will celebrate our 28th anniversary on the 29th. Our kids got together and bought us an overnight at a hotel, plus dinner, plus champagne and strawberries delivered to our room. I am still shaking my head. I can’t believe it. Not that they would do that, but that they chose to. We are all very short on money right now, and it was an amazing sacrifice to them to do. I feel very humbled and undeserving.
However……on to Easter!
If you need a little something to go with your Easter ham then check out And the Eggs. These onion cheese puffs may not be real traditional but they look oh so good.
Jen at AEat2Write has the perfect accompaniment to almost anything on your menu….Chocolate covered strawberries.
My surfing came to a halt when I saw the picture of the cupcakes on Airy Fairy. They look like tiny fairy offerings, delectable little nests with speckled eggs inside. I am telling you there is no other word for them other than enchanting!
Check out Almond Corner for the exquisite Easter eggs. You may never go back to the neon dyes.
I am loving this morning’s posts. Check out this incredible looking (and sounding ) Blood Orange and Rose Sorbet from Ambrosia and Nectar.
If you are still looking for something special for Easter brunch check out the Canneles on Angela’s Food Love
Carla at Chocolate Moosey makes an Oreo Bundt cake that looks yummy, even if it was troublesome.
More than Burnt Toast probably is one of the ten blogs I visit regularly. Valli’s links show up here a lot, not because she is nice. Not even because I consider her to be an online friend…but because they are always interesting, well photographed and good. Today? Dobos Torte.
If you aren’t doing a big dinner tomorrow, consider these maple brined pork chops from Mr. Orph’s Kithchen. Perfect dinner for just two!
Delectable little Truffes Brioche at Once Upon a Tart really got me in the mood to pull out my old French cookbooks this weekend…we’ll see if time allows.
YAY! Brittany is back at the Pie Lady, so I am just giving you the link to her blog, rather than a recipe. She has two posts that look fantastic, an Almond Butter Cake with Lemon Thyme Cream, and a beautiful rhubarb crumble.
O.k., Maybe this is not so much an Easter thing..but it is one of my favorites. There used to be, in 1980 in San Angelo Texas, an Italian grocers that made the best cannoli. And Pixie, at You Say Tomato…I Say Tomato has some on her blog that looks as good, if not better.
We send Marc’s brother and sister-in-law a turducken at Christmas unless finances are really awful. We are the southern branch of the family, and so must honestly represent French Canadians in the south. It is a responsibility that we take seriously. I did not think of sending one for Easter, but here is an Easter Turducken that you really shouldn’t miss…
Over at Big Boys Oven they have created a luscious looking Rouleau Vanille au Fruits. Very spring like and Easter-y. You can smell it through the computer, I swear.
Oh MAN! Jerry at Cooking by the Seat of My Pants is giving away an iPod Touch. Check it out!
A little later today I hope to be back with a roundup of the favorite recipes of b5’s Home and Dining Channel…so stay tuned.

Hey my chipotle-loving friend..thanks for the mention. Now I must admit I did not make the Dobos Torte it was made for me…but the recipe and history had to be passed on for such a famaous cake. It was just so good. If you want to attempt to make it let me know how it turns out, it is a real challenge…and we are up to a challenge:D
